With the recent election of Donald Trump, Black people collectively have said, “Get someone else to do it,” all through 2025. This year, as a community, we’ve been focusing on our culture, embracing the things that bring us joy, staying on top of our finances, shopping smart, and celebrating life. Here are six dates Black people should enjoy in 2025.

1. February 1: Black History Month Kickoff

It’s that time of year when melanin magic is in full effect. Whether you’re attending local events, hitting up Black-owned businesses, or just vibing to a playlist of classics (you know the one: Marvin, Whitney, Beyoncé), the first day of Black History Month is a vibe. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to hit your group chat with a dramatic, “We need to do more for the culture this year!”

2. February 9: Super Bowl Sunday in New Orleans

Not only is the biggest football game of the year taking over the Big Easy, but KENDRICK LAMAR is headlining the halftime show. Yes, you heard right—this is not the year to casually miss the Super Bowl. Whether you’re a diehard fan or only watch for the halftime performances (no judgment), this is your moment. Pro tip: stock up on wings and gumbo early because the stores are going to be cleaned out.

3. April 15: Tax Day

Ah, Tax Day—the one date everyone loves to hate. You’ll spend the morning crying over receipts, the afternoon Googling “What happens if I file late?” and the evening promising yourself that next year, you’ll file in January (spoiler: you won’t). But hey, if you’re lucky, you might end the day with a refund and dreams of spending it all on sneakers you don’t need.

4. June 19: Juneteenth

Juneteenth is always a celebration of freedom, family, and food. If you’re not at a cookout in 2025, you’re doing it wrong. Rock your red, black, and green fit and make sure your plate is stacked with ribs, mac and cheese, and a slice of somebody’s legendary sweet potato pie.

5. November 28: Black Friday

Shopping bags in one hand, credit card in the other, and deals so good you’ll swear the universe is on your side. Black Friday is the Olympics of capitalism, and if you’re not prepared to dive into those sales, you’ll miss out. Bonus points if you shop Black-owned businesses and snag some cultural swag!

6. December 31: New Year’s Eve

2025 ends with fireworks, sequins, and champagne (or sparkling grape juice if that’s your vibe). Whether you’re in church for Watch Night Service or dancing your heart out, this is the night to reflect on the year and plan to make 2026 your year to shine.
